Fresh politicos in newly elected government led by Prime Minister Balen Shaha are in action from day one; their speed of work is exemplary. Nepalis had never before experienced this preparedness, this promptness, this alertness and this energy in opening days of government-functioning. The 14 different governments in 2008-2025 republican era and their various predecessors prior to that period could never ignite excitement of change this way. The initial impression has made people more convinced and optimist about getting public service delivery on time and as pledged in plan or law. The ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party RSP has followed its election manifesto literally as it takes the responsibility of Singha Durbar and advances its five year journey in governance. What PM Balen and his competent colleagues in Cabinet should do is: just be conscious to maintain the speed and work in real time. Since this government along with its team is selection of voters, it has to be accountable and transparent in offering good governance and corruption-free public office performance. The 100-point roadmap –measures- planned for the same should be appreciated. They will be instrumental in changing the structure, process and mode of operation in government offices from now on. The citizen-centric approach directly energized by ICT and powered by People’s Mandate 2026 would produce results and make a difference in handling federalism in the context of Nepal. RSP proved single party majority government is possible under the present constitution; PM Balen Shaha established that 33 % of women, highly marginalized community of Nepal could be included in government. RSP Chairman Ravi Lamichhane demonstrated that new party with firm commitment to change could create reliable and comfortable alternative to legacy parties and seasoned leaders. May their mission be successful in days ahead!
