
Munu Mahawar, an additional secretary at Ministry of External Affairs, India has arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday. The high official from India, is here to take stock of the ongoing election preparations in Nepal, FOreign Ministry to officials. He will also assess the progress made in different projects funded by the government of India. Additional Secretary Mahawar is expected to call on Prime Minister Sushila Karki and meet Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal, Commerce Minister Anil Kumar Sinha and Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal. During his high level engagements in Kathmandu among other things he will discuss India’s support and cooperation for the March 5 election. coming on a four-day official visit to Nepal on Sunday. The goal is to see the progress made in different projects funded by the government of India.
He will also take stock of ongoing elections preparations in Kathmandu. He is the senior most Indian official visiting Kathmandu after the Gen Z uprising in early September in Nepal.
On Tuesday, he will call on Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Finance Minister Rameshore Khanal, Commerce Minister Anil Sinha, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, among other officials, and will discuss India’s support and cooperation for the March elections, according to officials privy to the visit.
Besides meeting Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, he will also attend an event at Lumbini the birth place of Lord Buddha and inspect the integrated check post build under India’s assistance in Bhairahawa, Foreign Ministry sources said. This is for the first time that any official from India’s External Affairs Ministry paid a visit to Nepal after the Gen Z movement.
