Prime Minister Sushila Karki has expanded the eight member cabinet by inducting two new ministers. President Ramchandra Paudel on Sunday appointed two new ministers at the recommendation of Prime Minister Karki.

The newly appointed ministers are Bablu Gupta and Sudha Gautam. Gupta has been given the portfolio of Youth and Sports while Gautam will receive the portfolio of Health and Population.

President Paudel amidst a special ceremony administered oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed ministers Gupta and Gautam at the President’s House, Sheetalniwas, according to the sources at the President’s Office. With this the strength of Karki cabinet has reached ten.

Suahila Karki was appointed as the caretaker Prime Minister on September 12 as then Prime Minister Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli was forced to resign from the post following the Gen Z movement of September 8 and 9 in which 76 people lost their lives. Karki led government is mandated to conduct the general election on March 5, 2025.
