Do your duty but do not expect any result from the same! That is the moral the Geeta is spreading throughout the world for the past five thousand years or so. That is the timeless lesson philosophers, activists, religious leaders and scholars of various fields are concentrating on over the time. The value attached to the holy point of the Geeta appears to be increasing, not diminishing as time passes by.

The Geeta, after all, is such an action-oriented scholarly presentation in which human beings find solution to each of their problems. Mahatma Gandhi of India found in the Geeta a way to tackle problems related to all doubts, depression and miseries. Each line or rhyme or shlok of the Geeta has such a great power that it makes people energized the moment they recite it and understand it.

Composed in 18 chapters, the Geeta’s 700 slokas are as relevant, important and valuable in digital era and Artificial Intelligence dominated world as they were five thousand years ago. It is considered to be a cryptic sum-up of the Vedic and Upanishad knowledge of Rishis in the remote ancient times.

Vedavyas penned the Geeta which is based on the dialogue between lord Krishna and Arjun in the midst of the Mahabharat battlefield of Kurukchhettra. It begins with perplexed state of mind of Arjun who, although being a great warrior, loses will power and energy to fight in the battlefield because of illusion of love for relatives. Lord Krishna re-energizes him reminding of his duty and prepares him to accept reality and face it and fight it out The beauty of Geeta is to highlight duty and keep it completely detached from the expectation of desired outcome.

The reality, the Geeta points out clearly, is human body and mind are subject to destruction but the soul is immortal. A number of other observations in the Geeta are highly famous: patience is a step towards success; remaining alert – ever conscious – about one’s duty is highly essential for all humans; be free from all worries and dedicate yourself to the Almighty.

The Geeta prescribes formula to control mind in an impressive way. This point has specially impressed modern medicos and neuroscientists who have to attend patients suffering from mental diseases including depression and loss of cognitive power.

Talking about the Geeta and reflecting on the messages of its shlokas on the birthday of Lord Krishna – Krishnastami – has been institutionalized among the practices of the Hindus. Some recite it 365 days while others refer to it on special occasions. One point none should forget is: the Geeta explains way to meditate, dedicate and focus for realizing the ultimate spirituality through stabilizing the mind and body complex. For those who are suffering from attention-deficit in modern times because of smart phone and smart technology, that stabilization technique of mind and body could be a great way out of the problem.
