With the single largest party in Parliament – Nepali Congress – and the second largest – CPN UML- joining handsin government, a new political era has emerged reminding people of how they had worked together to restore multi-party-democracy way back in 1990- People’s Movement part I.

Senior politicos in Kathmandu described the political phenomenon as a response to the verdict that people gave in the last general election. “The parties finally listened to the people, although belatedly, and after opening floor for top-power to the third largest party for nearly a year and a half.”

Prime Minister K.P. Oli while steering the government this time will be more tolerant and dedicated to recognition of existence of other parties and leaders, opined a former parliamentarian.

Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh, who leads the NC-team in government, will also be mindful of the value of working together with the leftist forces in a constructive way and for strengthening values of multi-party parliamentary democracy. “His work this time will be reminiscent of the legendary contribution that late Ganesh Man Singh made to the cause of democracy, freedom and multi-party politics in the country,” observed a media analyst. The ministers of Oli-government this time bring with them a special focused approach for providing governance in the real sense of the term and inspiring development works meant for the people. “This team has a goal and capacity to achieve it,” noted a speaker at a public function in Kathmandu on Monday.
