
Himalayan Secondary School, Dugambahi, New Road in Kathmandu celebrated its 65th anniversary on Saturday organizing a special programme at Marwadi Sewa Samiti Hall in Kathmandu. A host of speakera who spoke on the occasion shed light on imparting moral and practical education to the students so as to prepare them as responsible and talented students. The growing modernization, advanced digital technology and changing social norms pose a big challenge to the youths which needs to be addressed properly if we are to focus on their balanced development, they pointed out. The speakers on the occasion also underlined the need to make the school education practical and link to their daily life. Presenting a working paper Dr. Surendra Man Bajracharya on the occasion shed light on the importance of Dharma in the modern age with special reference to Buddhist religion.
Principal of the school Soni Shrestha underlined the need for making school education based on social norms, morality and practical aspects of life, instead of just focusing on exams while chairman of the school management committee Dilratna Shakya opined that moral education should be included in the school curriculum so as to make the students sensitive and responsible towards the society.
At the end of the programme the students of the school presented attractive cultural programme featuring dance, music and songs to entertain the audience.
