Documentary directed by Puru Lamsal wins best Documentary Award for ‘Goru Parva’

The documentary ‘Goru Parva’, depicting the original culture of Nepal, has won the best documentary award. The documentary directed by Puru Lamsal won the award at the 3rd Bogura International Film Festival 2023 held in Bogura, Bangladesh. In the festival held from January 26 to 28, four dozen films from different countries including India, Bangladesh, Nepal, France, Egypt, Tunisia were screened.

A documentary based on the tradition of bull fighting held every year on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti in Taruka, Nuwakot, was produced by KP Pathak and Neerajan Sigdel, presented by Cine Makers Nepal. Filmed by Ramesh Kumar Dhamala and Jyoti Singh, the documentary is edited by Love Payakurel. The documentary features playback vocals by Sushil Singh Thakuri, background music by Rajendra Bajgai. According to director Puru Lamsal, the documentary made on the tradition of bull fighting, which is held every year on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti in Taruka, Nuwakot, has spread international publicity about the ‘bull festival’ based on Nepal’s original culture. He said, ‘We have made only one attempt to internationalize it. It has been seen that we can make the country known by promoting our festivals and cultures internationally.
