
The number of tourists coming to Dhorpatan, the only hunting reserve of Nepal, has been increasing annually.
According to the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve Office in Baglung, the number of tourists visiting the hunting reserve rose by 8,000 within a year.
According to the officials, in total 23,692 tourists visited Dhorpatan in the fiscal year 2024-25 while such a number was 15,573 in the previous fiscal year.
Among the visitors, only 12 were nationals from the SAARC member countries and 213 were nationals from other countries, while the rest of them were domestic tourists. The hunting reserve situated in Baglung district, 350 km West of Kathmandu, is famous for hunting bluesheep, which area abundant in number.
While foreign tourists visit mainly for hunting, the domestic tourists have been visiting to explore the hunting reserve area, Dhorpatan Valley, Dhorbarah Temple, Bukipatan, Jaljala, and other beautiful sites. There are around two dozen hotels and homestays that are offering services to the visitors in Dhorpatan Valley, and tourists can conveniently reach the area by buying tour packages too.
