
The Nepal-India International Sanskrit Conclave is set to kick off in Kathmandu on March 27 that will provide a common platform to Sanskrit scholars from both Nepal and India and facilitate sharing of knowledge, experience and research findings between them. The conclave being organized from March 27-29, 2024 at Park Village Resort, Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu also aims to discuss global interest in Sanskrit and explore impacts of Sanskrit language on the cultural and education sectors of both the countries.
The conference will discuss the contemporary global context where Sanskrit is becoming a subject of research and study, reads a press release issued by Neeti Anusandhan Pratisthan, Nepal during a press meet on March 20.
Some of the objectives of the three day conference include:
– To conduct study specialized study of the contributions made by Sanskrit to cultural, spiritual and intellectual development of both Nepal and India.
– To discuss the influence of Sanskrit language in different langauges of the world and to contemplate on its relevance,
– To study and analyze the growing worldwide interest in Sanskrit and its impacts on cultural and educational sectors,
– To discuss in-depth subject matters of Sanskrit language in the context of Nepal and India
– To conduct thorough analysis on how Sanskrit can be used to conceptualize contemporary philosophical thinking and
– To discuss the contribution of Nepalese and Indian scholars to spread Sanskrit at global level.
The event is being jointly organized by the Policy Research Foundation Nepal, Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi and India Foundation, New Delhi.
There are many Sanskrit universities, colleges and schools in Nepal and India. Apart from Nepal and India, there are many researchers and professors studying Sanskrit in various foreign universities.
The practice of using the knowledge of ancient Sanskrit texts has been developing and spreading among people at global level even today.
The conclave is being organized to discuss the global need for Sankrit education and culture where Nepal and India are expected to take the lead,” remarked coordinator of the organizing committee, Dr Prem Raj Neupane.

“Senior professors, academicians and scholars from both Nepal and Indian through the presentation of their experience, knowledge and expertise will illuminate the participants during the conference,” reads the press release.
The first Nepal- Indian Sanskrit Conference was organized in Dang district of Western Nepal in 2024 B.S. Likewise, the second, third and fourth Nepal – India Sanskrit Conferences were organized in Kathmandu in 2051, 2075 and 2076 B.S.
This conference will help Nepalese scholars to learn about Sanskrit activities in India and Indians to learn about Sanskrit activities being carried out in Nepal, according to the organizers. It is expected that the conference will be instrumental in exploring the storage of vast knowledge in different fields in both Nepal and India and share among them as common assets.
