Nepal government has collected more than Rs 770 million as mountaineering royalties during the ongoing spring season, according to the Department of Tourism. As of Sunday, the total royalty revenue stands at Rs 773.59 million, with Mt. Everest alone contributing Rs 676.09 million.  

According to the Department’s officials, 1,127 climbers – 240 women and 887 men – from 119 expeditions have received climbing permits for 26 peaks, including Mt Everest. Mt Everest continues to be the most popular, with 456 climbers (84 women and 372 men) from 45 expeditions receiving permits, informed.

Climbers from 57 countries have joined the ascent of the world’s highest peak, according to Director of the Department, Liladhar Awasthi.
