Renowned Nepalese mountaineer Mingma G. Sherpa popularly known as Mingma G. created an history in mountaineering on Friday as he became the first Nepali mountaineer to scale all 14 peaks above 8,000m without using supplemental oxygen.
Mingma G Sherpa, from reached atop Mt. Shishapangma (8,027 meters) in Tibet at around 4:06 pm becoming the first climber from Nepal to scale 14 of the 8,000-meter peaks without the use of oxygen, according to Dawa Sherpa, director at Imagine Nepal Treks, that organized the expedition. Mingma G is the managing director of the Imagine Nepal Treks.
Earlier, Mingma climbed Mt Everest, Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt Kanchenjunga in 2022 without using supplemental oxygen. Earlier, he had also scaled Manaslu, G-I, G -II, Lhotse, Broad Peak, K2, Makalu, Nanga Parvat, Annapurna and Mt. Cho Oyu without oxygen supplement.
Thirty eight year old Mingma was born in Rolwaling Rural Municipality in Dolakha district of Eastern Nepal. “Leading an 11-member team from Imagine Nepal Treks, Mingma G reached the summit at 4:06 pm Dawa from the trek said. He has scaled the Everest from both the Tibetatn and Nepalese side and climbed Manaslu five times.
