
The International Conference on the Recovery of Cultural Heritage – a landmark forum convening global experts, government officials, policymakers, legal practitioners, scholars, journalists, and advocates dedicated to the protection and restitution of cultural heritage is all set to be held.
Organized in collaboration with the Nepal Heritage Recovery Campaign (NHRC) and in affiliation with the Department of Archaeology, Government of Nepal, the conference will address urgent and complex issues surrounding the theft, illicit trafficking, and repatriation of looted and stolen cultural artifacts. It will explore how the return of such heritage contributes to justice, healing, and reconciliation for communities and nations affected by cultural loss.
The interdisciplinary gathering targeted will delve into a wide range of strategies—from legal frameworks and policy reform to art historical research, investigative journalism, media engagement, and emerging digital technologies—to strengthen efforts in safeguarding cultural property and restoring it to its rightful custodians.

Film Screening “Loot & Return: 4 Documentaries” will take place on14-15 June 2025 at Yala Maya Kendra, Lalitpur, International Conference on Recovery of Cultural Heritage will be held on16-18 June 2025 at Sajha South Asia Centre, Lalitpur and Multimedia exhibition won the title “Absent Gods: Nepal’s Lost Heritage” will be conducted on31 July – 4 Aug 2025 at Patan Museum, Lalitpur.
