Ambassadors of different countries to Nepal have reached Kanyam in Suryodaya Municipality situated in Eastern Nepal for the visit of this scenic tea spot on the occasion of Nepali New Year 2082 BS. Over 45 dignitaries led by Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba that include Foreign Secretary Amrit Rai, foreign envoys and officials of Nepal Tourism Board reached visited the region on Sunday, the eve of New Year 2082 B.S.
The Municipality officials welcomed them at famous Kanyam tea garden with traditional musical instruments Panche Baja and then took to Antu for night stay. While in Kanyam, the Ambassadors were adorned with indigenous costumes and offered horse ride around Love Danda, according to Foreign Minister Deuba’s secretariat. Rana Bahadur Rai, mayor of Suryodaya Municipality said that the foreign Ambassadors were brought to Kanyam and Antu as per the annual programme of the Foreign Ministry to arrange visits of envoys to a new tourist destination on the occasion of Nepali New Year. During their stay in Antu, the Ambassadors enjoyed the scenic beauty of sun ris from Antu peak at dawn on Monday. They were also presented with Rai, Lampcha, Newari, Sakela and Jhankri dance and experienced tea picking in Antu tea garden, fishing in Antu pond, cheese tasting, cardamom tasting and tea tasting of different varieties. Ambassadors of countries such as Egypt, South Korea, UK, Switzerland, Thailand, Australia, France, Japan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were among the envoys who attended the special New Y ear’s retreat, informed Amrit Bahadur Rai, Chief Administrative Officer of the Municipality.
