For the first time in Nepal, a ‘rafting school’ is being launched on the banks of the Bhotekoshi River in Chanaute, Balefi Rural Municipality-5, Sindhupalchowk district. Preparations for operating the school have been made with the aim of producing skilled manpower for the purpose of emergency rescue related to water related sports, providing theoretical and practical knowledge related to rafting, promoting academic studies and research, and linking water tourism with income generation.

The Department of Tourism has made investments in the school, considering that the geographical and physical structure of the Bhotekoshi River banks is suitable for rafting training. Currently, the necessary infrastructure has been constructed at a cost of about 130 million rupees in the premises spread over an area of about 13 ropanis near the river. The school, which will be operational from Asoj. The school has classrooms, training halls, swimming pools, and other infrastructure necessary for rafting training.

 A course is being prepared that focuses on how to do water rescue, how it can be linked to tourism and income generation, and water-based adventure sports.  The rafting school will mainly operate courses lasting up to 6 months. However, to be admitted here, you must have worked in the rafting and reservoir sector for two years. This is the first time that a separate permanent structure has been built for rafting course studies. However, (National White Water School Balefi) NATHAM, Nepal Association of Rafting Agents (NARA), Nepal Army, and Nepal Police are conducting some training.
