
Gupta and Kharel
Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel has resigned from his post Monday afternoon. His resignation comes on the eve of the date fixed by the Election Commission to file nomination paper for the March 5 Parliamentary election. Kharel submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Monday.
In his resignation letter, Minister Kharel stated that he decided to resign from his post before entering the arena of party politics and considering the independent identity of the current government. The former television journalist, is considering to contest the election from Lalitpur district from Rastriya Swotantra Party. Earlier in the morning, Minister for Youth and Sports Bablu Gupta had also resigned from the post to contest the general election. Gupta, who was representing the Gen Z youths at the Sushila Karki led cabinet, is likely to contest House of Representatives election from Siraha district from the RSP.
