In a meaningful recognition of dedication, perseverance, and global achievement, the City of Akron has officially proclaimed April 21 as “Dinesh Sunar Day,” honoring international parkour athlete and multiple Guinness World Records holder Dinesh Sunar.
The proclamation, issued by Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan, recognizes Sunar’s extraordinary journey from humble beginnings in Nepal to becoming a globally recognized athlete in the United States. Over the past two decades, Sunar has built a reputation as a skilled parkour practitioner, gymnast, and stunt performer, earning numerous awards and international recognition.
According to the official proclamation, Sunar’s accomplishments include multiple Guinness World Records achieved both in Nepal and the United States, as well as his role in inspiring youth through sports, discipline, and community engagement. He is also acknowledged as one of the first international parkour athletes representing Nepal on a global stage.
