Agricultural farm based on Korean technology in Lalitpur operationalized

An agricultural farm based on Korean technology has been installed in Lalitpur Metropolitan City Ward no 27 at Chhahari Krishi Ekal Mahila Krishi Farm (Chhahari Single Women Agriculture Farm). An MoU signing ceremony was organized at the farm where South Korean Ambassador to Nepal Park Tae-young, LMC Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan, Mayor of Cheorwon city, delegates from Cheorwon city and others were present on the occasion.

The farm will be carried out by Chhahari single women’s group in the Cheorwon city funded farm tunnel while technical inputs will be provided by Cheorwon city.

Two years ago, a sisterly relationship was established between the city of Lalitpur Metropolitan City and the city of Cheorwon in Korea. Cheorwon city has supported LMC for the construction of an agricultural farm based on Korean technology as part of the exchange of good practices between sister cities. The land on which the farm is built has been leased for 5 years. According to Chhahari Krishi Ekal Mahila Group, agricultural production will be done by planting seasonal crops in the farm, which has an area of   about seven ropani of land.

Addressing the event, the Korean Ambassador to Nepal, said that this agricultural farm will help strengthen the relationship between Korea and Nepal.

On the occasion, Chiribabu Maharjan, Mayor of LMC, said that the construction of the agricultural farm is an excellent example of sharing good practices between the two cities that have established friendly relations. Stating that the metropolis has given priority to agricultural production for the construction of this farm, he said, “We have prioritized the construction of the farm to understand the importance of the agricultural sector and to give priority to women and youth in this sector.” Stating that the metropolis is interested in constructing a Falcha (pati) that reflects the art and culture of Lalitpur in Cheorwon city, he expressed his commitment to move forward with the process.

Myeon Lee Hyun Joon of Cheorwon City expressed his happiness to support the construction of an agricultural farm with Korean technology in ‘Mit’ City. Stating that he is excited to make a poster that reflects the art skills of Lalitpur in his city, he made it clear that he will continue the process. He thanked the people of Lalitpur for being successful in operating the agricultural farm, saying that everyone’s efforts were successful in solving the problems.

LMC Ward No. 27 Ward Chairman KrishnahariMaharjan thanked Cheorwan city and its residents. He said, “Thank you for helping to build such a good farm in our ward of Lalitpur city. We will continue to help you here in a fruitful way.” He said that the ward worked with the goal of becoming self-sufficient in agricultural production by connecting agriculture with youth, women and single women.

According to Sabita Maharjan, president of Chhahari Ekal Mahila Samuha, self-reliance in agricultural production is essential. Stating that the society presents single women as weak, she said that this group and the agricultural farm are operated through that group to establish that single women are not weak. She explained that it is imperative to be self-sufficient in production by connecting agriculture with the youth. (By Ram Dangol)
