With newly elected representatives of parliament getting ready to act and with fresh governance-team finalizing the process to take charge of Nepal government under the leadership of Balendra Shah, a new era of hope and service is emerging in Nepal. People consider it as the most important outcome of the Gen Z revolution and the subsequent parliamentary election. The democratic process that was followed for the polls has been instrumental in enabling the people of Nepal, who hold the ultimate sovereign power of the country, to decide the future course of Nepali politics and governance. Their decision, reflected in the mandate of recent 2026 election, rejected the way various political entities ran government in the past 35 years; the practice pursued earlier for three decades -1960-1990-was also ditched. People in picking up a new party – the Rastriya Swatantra Party – and offering it near two-third majority in parliament have enabled the new team to introduce the change required for people-centric governance under federal structure. What the RSP is expected to do is: change politics of serving leaders, their parties and loyal supporters into politics of people-centric governance, delivery of service in real life and not tolerating corruption in public offices. Also anticipated is: efficiency in use of public resources and ensuring natural environment for economic development with emphasis on social justice, equality and sustainability. May the RSP bring about a significant difference in governance and representation in days ahead!
