The Supreme Court has denied issuing an interim order in favour of Kishori Sah, a Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate for the House of Representatives election held on March 5 from Dhanusha 1 constituency.

Sah had lodged a writ petition at SC, demanding an interim order against the cancellation of his candidacy by the Election Commission. Though he received highest number of votes during the Parliamentary election, Sah’s candidacy has been cancelled as his name was included in financial black list by the Election Commission.

A division bench of Justices Binod Sharma and Megharaj Pokharel on Sunday denied the order. With this, the Election Commission’s decision on scrapping Sah’s candidacy has been upheld and Matrika Yadav’s victory legitimate. NCP has won 8 seats under direct election and with nine more seats under the proportionate voting the party stood in fourth position with 17 seats in the 275 member Lower House. RSP has received altogether 182 seats, just two seats short of getting two third majority.
