
A new leadership has been elected from the annual general body meeting (AGM) of Solar Electric Manufacturers Association Nepal (SEMAN), the umbrella organization of solar pv business community. The election conducted as a part of AGM, Bharat Kumar Malla was elected as the president of the association. There was a competition between Malla and Harinarayan Gautam for the post of president. The event was held on 6th December under the chairmanship of the president of the association, Krishna Prasad Parajuli.
Along with Malla as president, a team of executives were also elected. According to the elections results, Deepak Gautam was elected for the post of senior vice president, Rameshwar Wagle for the post of first vice president, Sudarshan Baniyan for the post of second vice president, Netra Bahadur Khatri for the post of general secretary, Ram Prasad Koirala for the post of treasurer, Keshavraj Sharma for the post of secretary. Similarly, the elected executive members are Rajendra Bahadur Khadka, Nishtha Gautam, Vishwa Shah, Krishnaraj Chudali, Yogendra Bahadur Shrestha, Deepakraj Paudel, Tilaklal Shrestha, Kumar Basnet and Subodh Rimal. SEMAN, which has been contributing to the sustainable and green development of Nepal with the development, promotion of energy through solar photo voltaic technology, has celebrated its 25th anniversary this year.
The newly elected executive committee will take the charge of the association for the next two years. The leadership had expressed commitments to drive the association accordance to the changing times, the association will establish a collective company based on the concept of an umbrella organization and prepare to conduct large solar energy projects. In the last financial year 2024-25, the solar programmes implemented through the Alternative Energy Promotion Center witnessed slow with the business volume downsized.
This year, the association said that the necessary budget allocation and full implementation for programmes including mini-grid, solar lights, solar pumps, solar drinking water, institutional and rooftop solar system connection will be emphasized. In addition, special initiatives will be taken to promote solar irrigation for expanding access to electricity in remote areas of the country, increasing agricultural production and displacing diesel pumps. The association said it will use its 25-year experience in renewable energy to increase cooperation with the government, private sector and donor agencies, this was mentioned in the SEMAN AGM.
