A helicopter en route to Kathmandu from Lukla, gateway to Mt. Everest, had to make an emergency landing at Banepa, 50 km east of Kathmandu, after it was hit by a bird. A bird struck the 9N-AKG chopper belonging to the Heli Everest, a private airlines, at 11 am and the pilot landed safely without taking any risk, said an official of the airlines.
According to the airlines, there were five US citizens as passengers and one Nepali pilot on board the helicopter.
Although the aircraft did not suffer any damage the chopper will go through technical test before it becomes ready for another flight, the airlines informed.
