
Nepal’s President Ramchandra Paudel has appointed Dr. Shankara Prasad Sharma as ambassador of Nepal to India on Wednesday.
The President appointed Dr Sharma as the Resident Ambassador of Nepal to the Republic of India and Dr Netra Prasad Timsina as the Resident Ambassador of Nepal to Malaysia, according to a notice issued by the President’s office. The appointments were made by President Paudel as per Article 282 of the Constitution of Nepal on the basis of the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, the office said.
This is for the second time that Dr. Sharma has been appointed as Nepalese ambassador to India. Dr. Sharma is also a prominent Economist and Diplomat. He has also served as the Ambassador of Nepal to the United States from 2009 to 2014. He was the Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission from 2002 to 2006.
He has earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Hawaii, USA. He has also served as a Senior Economic Advisor in the Ministry of Finance, Nepal.
