The 38th Annual General Meeting of Nepal Bankers Association has elected a new working committee under the leadership of Santosh Koirala on Tuesday.

Koirala, the president elected He is the current vice-president of the association and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Machhapuchhre Bank. He was unanimously elected as the president after Prabhu Bank CEO Ashok Sherchan withdrew his candidacy.

After the end of Sunil KC’s term as president, Koirala and Sherchan had staked claim to the post. However, it is informed that former presidents of NBA forged an understanding among the two candidates to unanimously elect Koirala to post of president.

For other posts, Global IME Bank’s CEO Surendra Regmi has been unanimously elected the vice-president. Similarly, Everest Bank’s Sudesh Khaling, Kumari Bank’s Ramchandra Khanal, and Nepal Bank’s Tilak Raj Pandey have also won the three vacant positions of NBA’s executive committee membership.

Following the decision of the general meeting, Prabhu Bank CEO Ashok Sherchan, Sanima Bank CEO Nischal Raj Pandey, Prime Commercial Bank CEO Sanjib Manandhar and Siddharth Bank CEO Sundar Prasad Kandel have been selected as members of the executive committee of the association.

NBA is an umbrella body of commercial banks in Nepal. The association was established to foster collaboration and coordination among commercial banks in Nepal. NBA’s goal is to promote fair competition, maintain uniform banking policies, and adopt innovative technologies to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the banking sector.
