212 hotels, 132 resorts including 26 casinos permitted to operate

According to the Nepal Government, Department of Tourism’s information, there has been remarkable growth in the hospitality sector, with operational permits granted to 212 hotels, 132 resorts, and 26 casinos. That means investment in luxury hotels, resorts, and casinos is increasing in the country.

The approved hotels include 3 deluxe five-star establishments, 39 four-star, 40 three-star, 23 five-star, 52 two-star and 47 one-star. Moreover, permits have been issued for 3 luxury heritage/boutique hotels, 3 deluxe heritage/boutique hotels and 1 standard heritage/boutique hotels. Those all makes the total of 212 hotels.

The department mentions that in the resort category, it has authorised 3 luxury resorts, 6 deluxe resorts and 123 standard resorts, Similarly, it has approved 9 large casinos and 17 mini-casinos featuring modern gaming machines or equipment. Moreover, 3 casinos are currently operating under court-issued stay orders, the department mentions in the press release.
