AEPC distributes electric cookers to students from remote areas

Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) has under the clean energy programme, started distributing electric cookers (Inductions) to the students residing in remote areas of Nepal since Mangshir 2, 2081. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka amidst a function at the AEPC office at Tahachal, Kathmandu. Altogether 3,191 electric cookers will be distributed to the students from various educational institutions representing 24 districts across the country during the ten day campaign. So far more than 30,000 electric cookers have been distributed to the students from remote areas of the country under the National Renewable Energy Programme funded by the UK government.

“This campaign will help in promotion and expansion of renewable energy across the country,” remarked Energy Minister Khadka speaking at the inaugural of the programme.

Besides promoting renewable energy technology in the country the centre has promoted more than 60,000 electric cookers since its inception in 1996. The main objective of electric cooker distribution campaign is to provide relief to the students, who are using imported coocking gas and to expand and promote use of electric cooker in the country, according to a statement issued by the centre.
