Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that medicine of sickle cell anemia produced and tested in India will be purchased and distributed to needy patients in the country. Tharu community in the country is found to have been a major victim of the disease.
Addressing the 13th Convocation Ceremony of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) Monday in Dharan, PM Oli urged the newly graduated doctors to be ready to distribute the medicine of sickle cell anemia while also highlighting that search and investigation can lead to discovery and that honesty and diligence yields achievement.
Mentioning that Rishi Charak started health sciences from Nepal, the PM said that the government was working to ensure accessible treatment for those who fall sick. He said the government was committed to add more quota of medical students to the BPKIHS.
