
Coronavirus infection has been detected among the Nepalis returning home from different parts of India. The government has made Coronavirus test mandatory at Nepal-India border areas after with the spread of detection of new variant of coronavirus (JN.1) in the southern neighbour.
According to Ganesh Saud, chief of Health Desk set up at Gauriphanta checkpoint bordering UP, India, coronavirus infection was found in 10 people returned from India so far. “We have been conducting antigen test among India-returnees and 10 cases of coronavirus were detected so far,” he told media. Those found to be infected with coronavirus have been suggested to stay in home isolation. Hundreds of Nepalis are returning home every day via Gauriphanta checkpoint from different parts of India. Samples were collected and sent to Kathmandu to confirm the variant of corona a couple of weeks.
However, no coronavirus has not been detected on Nepalis returning home through Gaddachauki checkpoint of Kanchanpur so far, according to the District Health Office, Kanchanpur.
