Former Prime Minister and CPN-UML chairman K. P. Sharma Oli has alleged that neighbouring countries are intervening in the internal affairs of Nepal and urged them to keep awy from unnecessary intervention.

Alleging that the Nepali Congress (NC) with the backing of some ‘foreign powers’ was making attempts to topple the government headed by the Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” even before it could secure vote of confidence, the former prime minister has said that they cannot tolerate such type of foreign intervention in the country.

Addressing an orientation program organized for the newly-elected House of Representative members of his party in Kathmandu on Saturday, UML chief Oli said that Nepalis had achieved “big success” by forming a new government on their own. “External powers were still working to see if they could change the current ruling dispensation.” Oli’s indication was the southern neighbour, though he did not mention any name while making such allegation.

“Our friends are not entering through the front door. They are trying to come by jumping over the wall to meddle in our internal affairs. which is not possible,” Oli told his party’s Lawmakers on Saturday. “Such type of act was not expected from a neighbour.”

“We are capable to form the government on our own way and I urge them not to intervene in our domestic affairs,” he said. Oli’s remarks came at a time when there were media reports that Nepali Congress has offered the post of Prime Minister to Rajendra Lingden, the president of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, the fifth largest party in the HoR, which the NC has already denied.
