Nepal Govt. honors’ Lena Keshari Kansakar with the ‘National ICT Excellence Awards 2024

The Government of Nepal has honoured Lena Keshari Kansakar with the prestigious ‘National ICT Excellence Awards 2024’. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MoCIT) presented the award in the women’s category to Kansakaron the occasion of National ICT Day 2024.Kansakr is working at Ncell’s as Acting Chief Technical Officer.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal presented the award to Kansakar amidst a special function held at Rastriya Sabha Griha to commemorate National ICT Day 2024. This recognition which also carries a purse of Rs. 100,000 acknowledges Kansakar’s outstanding contributions to the development and expansion of ICT and her efforts towards building a prosperous Nepal.

Kansakar joined Ncell as an Assistant Engineer in 2005. Currently serving as the Acting CTO of Ncell, she leads a technical team of over 140 employees and is the first Nepali woman to hold this position in Ncell. Ncell Limited, the privately owned telecom company is a mobile service provider in Nepal. It is Nepal’s largest company in terms of revenue market share and second largest telecommunications company, after Nepal Telecom in terms of subscriber base. The company was founded in 2004. The journey begins in the year 2004.

While working in Ncell, Kansakar has been involved in numerous important projects, including the implementation of 2G, 3G, and extensive expansion of 4G networks. She has spearheaded initiatives such as telecommunications access in rural areas, VoLTE expansion, and the establishment of data centers.

MoCIT has also honoured other institutions and individuals with awards on the National ICT Day 2024. Dr. Shailendra Giri from Pyuthan received the National ICT Excellence Award 2024, while One Point Financial Services was awarded the National ICT Innovation Award 2024.

Similarly, Monal Tech was honoured with the ‘National ICT Startup Award 2024’, the Social Security Fund received the National ICT Award 2024 (Public Sector), and the Data Hub was felicitated with the National ICT Award 2024 in the private sector category. Dynamic Technosoft was awarded with the National ICT Award 2024 at the provincial level.
