The parliamentary election season is on: campaigning in speed, candidates’ pledge picking volume, politics-feel in all 165 constituencies, and poll managers in a hurry! “Visit anywhere in 77 districts, you will feel some sort of poll sensation at the moment,” said a former election observer. “The cities, market places are witnessing more campaigning sound and images than the ones located in rural areas.”

A senior politician observed “the impact of Gen Z revolution could be felt in various forms and degrees in constituencies. A fresh style of political competition has emerged as candidates move forward seeking voters’ support with social media assisting them.”

The March 5 parliamentary election itself is the result of the Gen Z revolution. Because of the voice expressed during the revolution political parties have reshaped them. They have introduced new faces in polls offering voters to make a choice between the old and new.

Avoiding poll alliance for securing more seats in parliament, politicos have given the impression that they have changed in response to the Gen Z revolution.

“This campaigning gives me feeling that politicos have learnt lessons from Gen Z protest. Even seasoned political candidates are facing tough competition in their areas by fresh young faces,” noted a person who witnessed 10 door to door campaigns in Kathmandu Valley.

The voters have enough to choose from: continuity of past politics, fresh enthusiasm in politics and political faces, rewarding non-performers once again or pumping new ones into power, noted a media analyst.

The visual part of campaigning is appealing while the audio one is also highly catching ears of voters. The traditional method of campaigning is giving way to new style and pose in an interesting way, observed a senior former poll campaigner.
