HEI begins claims process for Gen-Z Movement damages

Total claims amount Rs 20.7 billion which may go far more

Himalayan Everest Insurance (HEI) has initiated claim settlements for property damages incurred during the recent Gen-Z movement protests.

The insurance company is now processing compensation claims filed by policyholders whose properties were damaged during the demonstrations. Recognizing the urgency of the current circumstances, HEI has fast-tracked its payment procedures to better serve affected customers.

Policyholders seeking compensation are advised to gather all required documentation and visit their nearest branch office to file their claims.

The company also expressed heartfelt tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives during the movement, and extended wishes for the speedy recovery of those who were injured.

Morover, the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA) has informed that insurance claims related to property damage during the violent Gen Z protests of September 8 – 9 have already crossed Rs 20 billion. The preliminary report was released 18 September.

Officials also warn saying the total could rise further as assessments continue and additional claims are filed.

The authority said non-life insurers have so far logged 1,984 claims totaling Rs 20.7 billion by Bhadra 31.

The Oriental Insurance Co. Ltd. reported the largest losses with claims worth Rs 5.15 billion, followed by Siddhartha Premier Insurance at Rs 4.93 billion and Shikhar Insurance at Rs 2.39 billion.
