Global summit focusing on de-addiction and disability concludes

A global summit on de-addiction and disability concluded in Kathmandu on Sunday under the aegis of India based Kashiyana Foundation. The summit that took place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kathmandu featured discussions about making the world addiction-free and addressing disabilities related to drug abuse. This event marked the second phase of the D-30 program and was participated in by representatives from 30 countries around the world. According to the organizers the primary goal of D-30 is to bring together 30 nations that are severely affected by addiction onto a common platform.

Vice President Ram Sahay Yadav was the chef guest of the event. Dushyant Gautam, National General Secretary of Bharatiya Janta Party, Naveen Srivastava Indian ambassador were among the dignitaries, who were present on the occasion. During the event, young people, doctors, and social workers voiced their concerns and presented solutions for addiction affected people and their rehabilitation across various sessions.

Dr. Rakesh Samal Embryologist and infertility expert said that “Drug abuse may result in infertility among women and impotency among men,” use of narcotic drugs may cause imbalance in egg quality among females.” He advised girls and boys to ask their partners before getting married if he/she take any type of drug.

“walk on the path of religion and there is not mention in any religious book that you should take drugs,” remarked Sanatani Dharma Guru Dr. Sachin. “Say no to drug and we have to know that what should we take and what is good for our health,” he advised.

Ashim Sitaula, educationist and entrepreneur pointed out that drugs start from the single phase and one needs to focus on the starting time. “Commercial advertisements disseminate wrong message that people who take cigarette is much happy then other,”he argued. “Tobacco is the gate way to drug,” said Sitaula.” “Both parents and teachers are responsible for addiction.”

Dr. Nabal Pajhar, mind and memory trainer said that people who takes drug were hated by their own family and such things should not be practiced. They need love and support from the family. Meditation, music therapy and travelling to hills is important for addiction free life.” According to the Dr. Sunil Kumar Mishra “drug addiction is not a problem. Communication with family is an important aspect for addiction free life.” Prof Dr. Kedar Parsad Rijal expressed the view that “we really want to educated youth from college school and curriculum should include that how drugs damage our life, society and our family.” (By Pratima Sapkota)
