After the protest against government reservation quota in Bangladesh became violent more than twelve hundred Nepalese student have returned home. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the total number of Nepali students currently studying in Bangladesh is three thousand. Among them 1200 have returned to their home till Sunday. On Sunday, 120 people returned on board Air Bangladesh and Himalaya Airlines and 350 people returned through land route via Kakadbhita.
According to Foreign Affairs, additional 1,700 students have made contact with the embassy. The ministry said that some other students are still coming in contact. Apart from that, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not have the data of people who have reached there in connection with other jobs. After the curfew issued by the administration as the movement turned violent, Nepali students were also affected. They are contacting the Embassy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to return to Nepal. Nepal Embassy in Bangladesh has asked the students to stay in residences and hostels saying that there is no possibility to go out due to the curfew and there is a dangerous environment. The embassy has requested those who want to return to Nepal to get in touch. Most of the returning students are from medical and agricultural studies. According to the Ministry, some are returning home by planes and some by buses. For students who want to return to Nepal by land, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has arranged a vehicle from the border area.
