Chitwan National Park lures 306,837 tourists, boosts revenue to Rs 305.7 million

Chitwan National Park witnessed an influx of 306,837 tourists in the last fiscal year, an increase from 299,412 visitors in the previous year, resulting in a significant boost in revenue to Rs 305.7 million from eco-tourism. 

According to Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, the Information Officer of Chitwan National Park, the number of visitors increased by 7,425 last year compared to the previous year.

Of the total visitors, 176,316 were domestic, a decrease from 205,605 in the previous fiscal year, CNP said. However, the number of visitors from countries outside the SAARC region increased significantly from 55,872 in the fiscal year 2079/080 to over 94,000 in the last fiscal year.

With the increase in tourist numbers, the revenue collection of Chitwan National Park also saw a rise. Tiwari shared that the national park collected Rs 305.7 million in revenue from eco-tourism in the last fiscal year, up from Rs 229.3 million in the previous year.

Bharatpur Metropolitan City is currently observing Bharatpur Visit Year 2024. Mayor Renu Dahal said that the city is being massively publicized at national and international levels to attract more tourists. Chitwan National Park is the main tourist destination in Bharatpur and receives the highest number of tourists in the district.
