Nearly one lakh tourists visited Nepal in February

Tourists visiting Nepal have increased by 33 percent in February 2024 as compared to the same period previous year. In total 97,426 tourists entered Nepal by air in the second month of 2024. According to the Nepal Tourism Board, in the year 2023, 73,255 tourists visited Nepal in February. According to the data the highest number of Indian tourists visited Nepal during the period. The number of tourists coming to Nepal from India is 25 thousand 578. Last year only 18 thousand 401 Indian tourists came to Nepal in Feb. In February, after India the highest number of 9 thousand 180 tourists came from China. This is followed by 9 thousand tourists from America, 4 thousand 799 from Thailand, and 4 thousand 571 from Britain. Similarly, 4 thousand 99 tourists from Bangladesh and 3 thousand 684 tourists from Sri Lanka visited Nepal in February.

 The improvement in India’s economic growth, the promotion of tourism from the private sector, and religious ties have shown an improvement in the arrival of tourists entering Nepal from India. Indian tourists have started to make Bangladesh as a major destination for infrastructure viewing while they came to Nepal for enjoying natural scenic beauty. The number of religious tourists entering Nepal has also increased due to the connection between Janakpur and Ayodhya. As the tourist season in Nepal begins from March, the number of tourists is expected to increase significantly this year.
