The rainfall continues when the people are still in the need to visit their relatives to receive Dashain Tika and blessings from their seniors.

The continuous downpour caused the widespread inundation in many residential areas, market places and the areas occupied by the government offices in Janakpurdham sub-metropolis. Mayor Manoj Shah shared that flooding and inundation are recurring issues for Janakpurdham during each monsoon season and the situation has worsened this year. The lack of a proper sewage system in the town has caused inundations from the major roadways to the residential areas. “The local residents have complained that rain waters have accumulated in and around main roads and their houses,” he added.

According to the province government, the Bagamati River is presently flowing at around 5,500 cusec which is 500 cusec above the danger level. It led to the opening of all gates along the Bagamati Barrage. The Chief Minister said, “Due to the gradual opening of gates for Kulekhani Hydropower Centre’s barrage, the water flow in the Bagamati may rise further.
