MBAN concludes its 16th AGM with discussions on strengthening the role of merchant banks in the capital market

The Merchant Banking Association Nepal (MBAN) has conducted its 16th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 18, 2025 in Kathmandu.

The AGM was attended by representatives from all the merchant banking institution and the members of MBAN. The meeting reviewed the activities and achievements of MBAN for the fiscal year 2081/82, endorsed the annual program and budget for the fiscal year 2082/83, and discussed the current issues, challenges, and future strategic plans of the merchant banking industry in Nepal.

The AGM also amended the association’s constitution and discussed policy matters aimed at strengthening the role of merchant banks in the capital market. On the occasion, MBAN expressed its gratitude to all members for their continuous support and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting ethical practices, professionalism, and sustainable growth of Nepal’s merchant banking industry.

The event concluded with the acknowledgment of allocation of new leadership responsibilities for the upcoming term.

Merchant Bankers’ Association of Nepal (MBAN) was established with a purpose to analyse, advice and advocate for the betterment of the Merchant Banking industry and for the continuous development of Nepalese Capital Market through joint efforts and collective resources of the merchant bankers. The MBAN works with government, regulators and other stakeholders to improve public awareness and understanding of the industry’s services and contribution to the economy and to ensure Nepalese capital markets participants continue to benefit from a growing, stable, competitive and accessible investment banking industry. MBAN is recognised by Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) for setting up professional standard practices in the merchant banking industry of the country. MBAN has been ceaselessly working for the development of the Capital Market and has been playing a very constructive role for its members since its inception.

The incumbent chairperson MBAN is Ramendra Rayamajhi. He was elected to lead the new executive committee at the association’s 15th Annual General Meeting last year.
