Nepali Congress general secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma has advised Nepali Congress president and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba not to become the Prime Minister for the sixth time maintaining the height of Mt. Everest in politics. Party president Deuba earned appreciation when he made remarks that “time has come for him for retire” and he wanted to make the NC a unified party.
I advise Deuba quit the post of Prime Minister when the CPN-UML hands over power to him in Asar next year. “President Deuba should play the role of a guardian instead of becoming the Prime Minister once again,” he remarked. At a time when former President Bidya Bhandari has jumped to UML politics after retiring from Sheetal Niwas, there is a need for a guardian in Nepalese politics, and Deuba can play that role, he pointed out. The party’s statute doesn’t allow Deuba to become the president for the third time, so he should try to earn the appreciation of the Nepali Congress people by paving way for other people in the party to acquire the top executive position of the country, Sharma said. If Deuba chooses respectful exit from power, it would have a significant positive impact in our party, he added.
