Bringing people turned towards different directions to a single forum in the name of leftist unity without clear ideological understanding can be counter -productive, remarked Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli.
“It will be meaningless to bring those who have turned to many directions into leftist unity without ideological clarity,” Oli said while addressing a programme organized in Kathmandu on Saturday to commemorate the death anniversary of former general secretary of the CPN-UML Madan Bhandari.
“The tendency to oppose even the right thing and create discord has been evident in the communist movement since history. Even though there was no real ideological difference divisive lines were drawn based on personal interests,” Oli pointed out.
“The idea of ‘people’s multi-party democracy’ brought under the leadership of late Madan Bhandari has been established as a national policy not only for political democracy but also in economic, social and human rights issues.” It is on the same foundation that we must work to fulfill the national aspiration of a prosperous Nepal, happy Nepalis, he added.
It is our conviction that the people are the sovereign source of power, Oli stated and clarified that his party (CPN-UML) have never left the path of patriotism, national independence and integrity. “Any attempt to revert to monarchy is impossible and unacceptable,” Oli reiterated and urged the cadres to move forward showing unity and confidence. He was pointing to the fresh agitation being launched by the pro-monarchists starting Jestha 15 with the objective of reinstating monarchy and establishing Nepal as a Hindu state.
