NADA concludes featuring most on EVs

The 16th Edition of the ‘NADA Auto Show 2024’, concluded on Sunday, September 1st, 2024. Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel inaugurated the event at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu on August 27th. The automobile show organized by Nepal Automobile Distributors Association (NADA).

The NADA Auto Show, this year also, drew a huge crowd numbering more than 82,000 visitors in 6 days. This year’s show includes 130 stalls, representing 95 automobile brands and auto parts companies. Banks and insurance companies were also in the exhibition to showcase their service on automobile sector.

According to the oragnisers, an estimated sales volume in the auto show was anrounf 15 billion rupees. Some 4,000 units of four wheel vehicles and 2000 units of two wheel were booked.

The exhibition of this year remarkably featured on electric vehicles, reflecting global growing public interest on nonpolluting transportation in line with climate action.

A wide variety of automotive products, including SUVs, cars, bikes, scooters, and commercial vehicles like micro buses. Notably, around 90% of the four-wheelers showcased are electric, with a strong representation from Chinese brands alongside budget-friendly and premium models from India and China.

The electric cars like Tata’s Punch ev, Dongfeng’s Nammi were labelled most sold vehicles while small electric cars like MG’s Comet, Bingo, BAW’s Brumby, Kaiyi’s, e-Qute were liked by budget based buyers. Avatar, BYD’s Atto 3, Dolphin, Kia’s ev6, ev9, Hozon’s NETA X, Leap Motor, Omoda, Jaecoo J6, Radar RD6, BMW, Xpeng, Zeekr X, Dongfeng Nammi-01, Leap Motor, GAC Aion, Omoda, Ceres, MG, Skywell, Citroën, and Hozon were displayed and sold in good numbers. While Mahindra’s new model of electric SUV also drew attention of the visitors.

A few electric 11 to 20 seater micro buses were also displayed in the show.
