Seven people die in landslide in Western Nepal

Seven people, four from a family in Bajhang district and three from another family in Jajarkot district of Western Nepal, lost their lives in separate incidents of landslides triggered by incessant rain in the last 24 hours, according to the police.

Four members of a family were buried alive in Bajhang as landslide swept away a house at Bungal municipality-10 Sunday night, said the police. Those who died in the incident are 50 year old Kali Dhami, her daughter-in- law and grand children aged 6 and 3, said the police.

However six other members of the family managed to escape and save their life in the incident.

In Jajarkot, a landslide buried a temporary shelter in Majhagaun of Nalgad municipality-2 in the early morning on Monday, killing three members of a single family.

The victims were identified as Lal Bahadur Pariyar, 42, his 34 year old wife and their two-year-old son. According to the police, the Pariyar family had been living in a temporary shelter after their house collapsed in the earthquake last year.
