Dr. Bhesh Bahadur Thapa has been chosen as the recipient of Hem Bahadur Malla Award 2079 BS. The award installed jointly by Salt Trading Corporation and Public Administration Association of Nepal (PAAN) carries a certificate of appreciation and cash prize of Rs. 200,000.
Former Foreign Minister and former Nepalese ambassador to USA and India, Dr. Thapa has been selected for the prestigious award for his five decade long contributions in the field of economic, administrative, academic and diplomatic areas of Nepal, remarked Madhuraman Acharya, chairman of PAAN and former foreign secretary while announcing Dr. Thapa’s name for the award.
The award will be conferred to Dr. Thapa amid a special programme in Kathmandu on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Hem Bahadur Malla, on whose name the award was installed, was the founder chief of the Salt Trading Corporation, who had served the organization under different capacities for decades including CEO, director in-charge and chief advisor. He was also the chairman of National Finance Company, Sagarmatha Insurance Co., and Suvarna Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Malla was a dedicated civil servant, a visionary business leader and a hardworking as well as an honest administrator.
Dr. Sanduik Ruit, Kulman Ghising, Mahavir Pun, Daman Dhungana, Khil Raj Regmi and Goraksha Bahadur Nhuchhe Pradhan are among the past recipients of the award.
