Total paddy plantation satisfactory, expected increased production this year

The Nepal Government Ministry of Agriculture Development has informed that 92.4 percent of planting has been completed across the country so far in this season. The ministry said that out of the total area to be planted till Shrawan 13 (28th July), the planted area is as above. Out of the 13 lakh 98 thousand 273 hectares of paddy cultivation area, 12 lakh 92 thousand 221 hectares have been planted. 

As province wise, 99.6 percent planting has been done in Far West. 96.9 percent in Karnali, 91.3 percent in Lumbini, 90.8 percent in Bagmati, 92 percent in Madhesh, 90.7 percent in Koshi have been planted.

According to the ministry, last year, only 78.1 percent of the total rice planting area till Shrawan 12was planted.  Therefore, it is expected that rice production will witness an increment this year.
