Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli has won the vote of confidence in the House of Representatives, securing parliamentary legitimacy for his continuing in the post.
The PM secured 188 votes in favour of the motion whereas 74 votes — from the Maoists, Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, and the Rashtriya Swatantra Party — against it. He secured more than two third majority during the floor test in the Parliament. During the voting 263 lawmakers were present in Parliament.
Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Janata Samajwadi Party, Janamat Party, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party and some independent MPs voted in favor of Prime Minister Oli. However, one member of the Parliament abstained from voting.
Oli while addressing the Parlilament also revealed the seven point deal reached between Nepali Congress president and himself two weeks ago while signing a power sharing deal.
With this PM Oli has strengthened his positioned in the Lower House.
