Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Sun Weidong, arrived in Kathmandu Monday morning on a three day official visit.
He landed in Kathmandu to attend the Sixteenth Meeting of the Nepal-China Diplomatic Consultation Mechanism taking place in the capital on 25 June 2024, according to a press release issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Krishna Prasad Dhakal, Joint Secretary and Head of the North East Asia Division of the Foreign Ministry welcomed the Chinese Vice Minister upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
Foreign Secretary Ms Sewa Lamsal will lead the Nepali delegation comprising senior officials from various ministries of the Government of Nepal at the Consultation Mechanism Meeting while Vice Minister Weidong will lead the Chinese delegation, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During Weidong’s high level meetings in Kathmandu, overall areas of bilateral relations and bilateral cooperation between Nepal and China will be discussed.
The Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs is also scheduled to pay courtesy calls on President Ramchandra Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ during the official visit. Vice Minister Weidong will leave Kathmandu on June 26, 2024 wrapping up the three day visit.
