Pyakurel rejects the post of envoy

Sushil Pyakurel, the ambassador nominee to South Korea, has rejected the offer made by the government. In a letter sent to the Prime Minister’s Office, Pyakurel has said that he has requested the government to withdraw the decision to nominate him the ambassador, according to a statement issued by him. He said he was surprised by the government’s decision to nominate his name to the post of the ambassador without having prior consultation. “I see the need for serious discussion on the criteria set by previous governments regarding the appointment of ambassadors, the rationale behind parliamentary hearings and the tenure of the ambassadors,” he said in the statement.
