United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNCHR) Nepal organized a programme in Kathmandu on June 20 to mark the World Refugee Day. On the Occasion a pictorial book titled “Bridges of Compassion: A Photographic Odissy of Refugees in Nepal,” was launched. The book released by Dr. Surya Prasad Dhungel, chairman of National Human Rights Commission of Nepal consists of pictorial highlights various activities launched by UNHCR in Nepal to help and facilitate international refugees in the past three decades.
As the refugees bring with themselves their best talents, skill and traditions, we need to create an environment to open the doors for them in different regions,” remarked UNHCR Nepal chief Carolin Spannuth Verma speaking on the occasion. On the occasion handicrafts, clothes and food items prepared by refugees from different countries were also showcased.
