Police have arrested 21 women including an Indian national from Thamel area for their involvement in indecent activities such as teasing boys and harassing domestic and foreign tourists. Those arrested by the police on Saturday include girls and women, eight from Uganda, one each from Kenya and India and eleven from Nepal, aged between 18 and 45, Nepal Police headquarters sources said on Sunday.
The arrested girls and women were found to be involved in immoral activities including misbehaving foreign and domestic tourists and teasing them at night in public places including Thamel and Durbarmarg area, the police said.
They were arrested as the police launched a special operation on the basis of a tip off from these two places. The police have taken permission from Kathmandu District Administration to take them into custody for five days for conducting further investigation, according to Nepal Police headquarters sources.
