Rope fixing climbers, icefall doctors honored for route fixing on Mt. Everest

The icefall doctors and rope fixing climbers responsible for opening and fixing the climbing route from the Base Camp to the summit point of Mt Everest this year has been honored by the Department of Tourism at the Everest Base Camp today. 

The Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC) has been tasked with overseeing the icefall doctors who fixed the route up to Camp II. The team of icefall doctors who opened the route up to Camp II includes Ang Sarki Sherpa, Dawa Nuru Sherpa, Pemba Tshering Sherpa, Ngima Tenzi Sherpa, Nawang Chhimi Sherpa, Dawa Chhiri Sherpa, Dawa Zangbu Sherpa, and Mingma Gyalzen Sherpa.

Meanwhile, the rope fixing climbers under the Seven Summit Treks were responsible for fixing the route above Camp II to the Summit point this year.

The team of rope fixing members from Seven Summit Treks, led by Dendi Sherpa, included Tenjing Gyaljen Sherpa, Pemba Tashi Sherpa, Lakpa Sherpa, Dawa Sherpa, Lakpa Rinjee Sherpa, Namgyal Dorjee Tamang, Dawa Rinjee Sherpa, Pam Dorjee Sherpa, and Suk Bahadur Tamang.

They were honored at an event at the base camp attended by officials from the tourism department and members of various climbing teams at the base camp.
