Nepal has reached to the semi-finals of the WAFF Women’s Championship, securing the position by defeating Palestine by 4-0 in their final group match.
Nepal became winner of Group ‘B’ bystrong performance at the King Abdullah Sports City stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Sabitra Bhandari’s two goals, with Rekha Poudel and Gita Rana contributing one goal each were much highlighted.
Undefeated in all three games of the Group ‘B’ matches, Nepal is set to now face the runner-up of Group ‘A’, Lebanon in the semi-final game. Despite their loss to Nepal, Palestine also advanced to the semi-finals as the runners-up of Group ‘B’ and will compete against Jordan, the winners of Group ‘A’.
The semi-final clash between Nepal and Lebanon is scheduled for Tuesday 27th February. The game will take place at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium.
The 2024 WAFF Women’s Championship is the 8th edition of the WAFF Women’s Championship, the biennial international women’s football tournament in West Asia competed by the national teams in the west Asian Football Federation (WAFF). The tournament is being hosted by the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it is the first major women’s football tournament to be hosted in the kingdom.
